Water does not mix with gas like that. All the water would be in a visible puddle on the bottom of the jar. Somethinges else is contaminating it.

It has a saturation point. If I had let it sit longer, it would have separated with the water on the bottom.

We had just siphoned it out of the generator tank in that picture.

Gasoline is not water soluble. Ethanol most certainly is. The water and ethanol blended in that picture will fallout of solution eventually. That's called phase separation.

Ethanol blended fuel looks exactly like OP's picture when it gets water in it.
