Lose a substantial amount of money. A job. A relationship. Serious health problems in the family. All at once?

I asked where God was throughout it, but going on the fourth year of shite that just keeps compounding, I stopped that.

If so, how did you get through it?

12 steps bro. Doesn't have to be alcohol, you can substitute any bad habit/behavior in place of alcohol.

Changed my life

I went through a rough divorce. Fortunately, my lawyer had great advice. "The best way to get over one chick, is to get under another."

ETA: Under.

You got this OP.

Prayers to you buddy. God has a plan for you and it might not seem like it now, but he heals all.

Yes, you just have to be strong mentally. Be grateful what you do have. And Keep moving forward. Don't allow yourself to get bogged down in your sorrow. Also the serenity prayer seemed to help:

quote:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Don't sit around and mope and complain.

Go out and do something. Volunteer for a charity. Serve meals at a homeless shelter. Help out a animal shelter. Build a house with Habitat for Humanity.

2 things will happen. One is you'll see others in dire situations as you perceive yours, plus you'll feel better by helping others out.

God was always there. I have been through the trials of life, I think God was trying to get my attention, to get me on the right path. Persevere, read your Bible daily, repent, and pray. Our Father in heaven knows what you need even before you ask him. His grace is sufficient for al of us. God bless you and your family.

Hang in there, figure out what the cause, cut its head off. Took me almost losing everything I had, family, company, home, all of it. Took 90 days to figure out what was causing my turmoil. Things are 100% better now.

Divorce. Especially one had no idea was coming. Now I'm trying my best to raise two young kids and feel like I'm just staying afloat.

OP, do you go to counseling or therapy?

Don't take this the wrong way, but a book that may help you is "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck.

Yep, my first child died. On the way back to Houston for work the day after he was buried I got a call that I was laid off. For six months I drowned my self with copious amounts of drugs. That wasn't a good way of handling my problems. Eventually, the sun seemed to rise brighter one day and I went find a very lessor paying job. I put all my energy to the job, challenging myself to climb to the top.

You need to find a healthy outlet to clear your mind and give yourself purpose in life.

I did about 2 years ago. I hit rock bottom. I was in a bad place, and the only thing that pulled me out was God's grace and when I finally surrendered fully, I was shot out of a cannon towards the life I have now. I lost everything, and 2 years later, I gained it all back PLUS and am now in the best stretch of my life I've ever been in.

If you knew the detail it would dumbfound you. I have no doubt in my mind God spoke to me at my most broken and lifted me up. It's crazy to think about, but I was able to work at it and I started getting blessed immediately.
