My coworker's son wants him to take him to see it. I haven't seen it yet so I figured the best place to ask...

i believe the worst part of the film is an exploding head, and even then i don't think there was any blood. your coworker's son is probably watching worse things on the internet.

LINK
There are plenty of websites like the link above that break down various scenes that lead to the rating. Some even have a religious spin, if you are into that.
8-10 for a PG-13 movie just really depends on your parenting style. I doubt there is anything that will leave the kid scarred or cause them to act out. However, based on the description it does sound a bit mature for a kid that age. Yet, I suspect most parents these days tend to be more lax and would take their child to see it anyway because "they'll see way worse on YouTube."

If he wants to know who Margot Robbie is then let him watch the director's cut of Wolf of Wall Street :jump1:

It's barely any different from a Marvel movie minus the slightly worse language (which isn't even that bad). The Villains look like they're made of asphalt. You're fine.

I would say the content is fine for an 8 year old, but what 8 year old could even begin to comprehend Suicide Squad? It's going to go way over his head

I wouldn't let him see it. I don't want him to become jaded about movies in general.

If we watched the video of that Armenian lifter he's probably ok.

the movie is so terrible it isn't appropriate for any age group.

Good lord, an eight year old should still be watching Disney movies.

I watch a lot of comic movie with my kids and the only one i've felt slightly uncomfortable watching was Deadpool so far. This one is fine imo..

At his age, he might be able to enjoy that shitfest of a movie.

I watched a clockwork orange when I was 8. Saw that rape scene and I shite everywhere. I mean everywhere.

I took my 9 year old daughter to see it Sunday. She loved it. Nothing terrible in the movie, hell her favorite TV show is TWD.

I don't know what the kid did wrong but tell your friend to have a little compassion and just ground him instead.
