Honestly I'm embarressed as an SEC West Alumni to be a part of such a massively ugly soap opera. Coaching Changes and the drama it imparts should come to an end. I do not think it's right that coaches like Petrino and Saban play the game they do. I have alot of respect for the coaches like Bowden, Peterno, and even Carroll and Stoops. For Les Miles to stay at LSU and give up his dream job I hope is the start of a new era, an era in which integrity is back in the HC job.

How do AD's fix this problem? I read that Les Miles has in his contract a clause that he'd be required to pay back Half of his remaining years' salaries if he were ever fired. That's some stiff Justice. Would requiring such a clause in contracts at universities with the top jobs, such as LSU, UM, USC, OU, and UF, end this joke that is the coaching Carousel?

Imagine if Bobby Petrino had to pay 1/2 of his remaining contract at Louisville when he left, that's of been 15M? Or Saban the same... he would have never gone on his expedition to Miami. LSU was lucky... Atlanta, Miami, and Louisville have not been so fortunate.

Is this a problem that the Universities need to address? I'm not sure I could be a fan of Arky with the disgrace that Bobby Patrino is... and i'm sure as hell glad we have Miles instead of stealing Saban again. Sloppy seconds, or should i say 3rds with Nick, is no wheres to be as a fan. I like Miles, I like his style, I like his word. The era of dignity and integrity hopefully begins again with him

If you read it anywhere reputable, this is the opposite of what was written. If miles is fired, we have to pay him a lot more than the worth of his remaining contract.

Folks like Jimmy Sexton are to blame. The coaching carousel started primarily with him. Until the major schools start putting teeth in their contract like you say, it will be this way. But that is like saying baseball teams should not pay the players so much, it won't work that way. There is always one fool (Steinbrenner) out there who won't go along and will pay big bucks to try and gain an edge. And right now colleges are willing to pay big bucks in contracts that give them almost no protection just so they can win . . . NOW!

The only way we return to the days of coaches staying 10-20 years at one school is if the contracts specify severe financial penalties on either side for leaving.

LSU took a step in the right direction with the $1.25 mil buyout for MI in Miles' contract. But it needs to be higher. More like 5 years' salary.

Subject the coaches to the same pay scale applicable to high-tier academic faculty.
