Anyone have experience with this cartridge? Looking to build a long range ar that can touch 800 m without getting the ar-10. I've heard that 6.5 Grendel outperforms 7.62X51 at 1000 yds and really I want to know can anyone attest to this idea.

I have heard the same, actually purchased a lower to build a 6.5 grendel but havent gotten around to it yet.

Probably going to wind up selling the lower and buying a new putter!

The Grendel will probably outperform the .308 at 1000 as far as bullet drop goes but will have less stopping power. If you're just target shooting I'd get the 6.5.

I don't quote me on that shite though. Most of my knowledge comes from YouTube.

Where are you shooting out to 800m or 1000 yds?

I have a 6.5 Grendel in an AR platform but it's rocking open sights. Got it to get rid of some hogs. I'd like to see what it can do at longer ranges but I have no need for it. It's fun to shoot though and you can buy wolf ammo to just play around with for about $5 a box. I also have a 6.5 creedmore in a bolt action rifle with a trijicon 2.5-10x56 accupoint that is awesome for deer hunting. It's my favorite rifle for sure. I love the 6.5's and don't plan to ever get rid of them. If you have a scope already to shoot that far, and you're around Baton Rouge, we can meet up and you can put your scope on it and see how you like it before dropping the money on a new gun that might not do what you want it to.
