Not the same thing but weddings are scheduled on purpose.

"A man had 50 yard line tickets for a LSU game.

As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty.

He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there.

"No," the man replied, "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible," said the first man.

"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the LSU game, the biggest sporting event in the state and not use it?"

The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first LSU game we haven't attended together since we got married in 1967."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral.""

Always shocked when people (especially LSU/SEC graduates!) do this when they live in the south. Even if you ignore that you're making your guests make a tough choice like that, the logistics of doing something that's already stressful (the wedding) in the middle of another stressful (everything that the community puts into football season) event is always a little mind boggling to me.

Wife wanted a Fall wedding and I told her I was ok with it but it had to be on a LSU bye weekend. No exception to that rule. All was planned accordingly and went off wit a hitch on that Bye weekend in November. I knew damn good and well on even an away game weekend it would stress out many guests.

Wife is maid of honor at a wedding during the SEC Championship.

Already decided if they don't have TVs, I'm bringing a radio.

I agree totally.

IF you're going to do it, go with a Friday night or a Sunday.

If you plan your wedding to coincide (compete) with an LSU game, don't be surprised when I send a 'congratulations' card in the mail because I won't be at your wedding.

My wife wanted ours in mid-September. I finally got through to her, and in the end, we did it in August and were back from the honeymoon in time for the opening game. I won't attend a Saturday wedding during football season.

Nothing pisses me off more than this. In a friend's wedding in Chicago. He's from Baton Rouge and went to LSU Med School.

Tempted to skip the wedding and drive up to Green Bay.

Ive got a buddy who no longer talks to another friend because he didnt go to his wedding because it was during the LSU-Bama game

That's why my wedding was in the middle of July. We had a huge turnout, nearly everyone we invited showed up because there was literally nothing else going on at the time.

I worked at a bakery at one time, not every game, but you could tell when a big game would be that weekend. You would go from like 20 wedding cakes the weekend before, to zero that weekend. It is really funny how people really do plan their stuff around football season.

My best friends waited 3 years to make sure they could get the venue they wanted ON LSU'S BYE WEEK. That's how it's done if you're getting married during football season.
