Laws are necessary, yes. Judges are necessary in order to understand and enforce those laws. Lawyers (yeah I know judges start out as lawyers, but this is a hypothetical) are simply there to manipulate the laws for whomever they are representing. Our legal industry is a fricked up Behemoth of bureaucracy made by lawyers in order to benefit lawyers with no regard for the justice or even fairness that they are there to strive for (in theory anyway). Don't y'all have to read The Trial at some point in law school?

ETA and to this point

No profession is going around handing out lollipops existing only to contribute to society, they are there to make money. What about the clients I've had call my office thanking us for changing their life?

There's plenty of professionals who go into their field to better society; cops, teachers, firemen, none of them make dick but a lot feel some source of pride and civic duty. They're essentially that horse to which lawyers are the tick.

Even well paid professions can see a positive impact on society. Engineers can look at a bridge they designed or doctors can see patients they've cured. What is the best achievement for a lawyer's career "I got someone a lot of money that already was rightfully theirs and I took some of it for myself".

I'm not an anarchist who wants lawlessness, but if we're going to have a legal system to protect citizens then it shouldn't be reserved for those who can afford it.

There are definitely too many crooked under qualified attorneys. As Hank jr. says there's damn few backwoods lawyers left these days. That's what we need more of

Laws are relatively stagnant over time. Facts are manipulated to fit the laws.
