It undermines how difficult it is to actually kill an animal with a real bow. It is like a rifle with limited range.

Do what you do man. Hunt by any means legal and in a such a way that YOU enjoy. The main thing is people taking credit for a "bow" kill on an animal and conveniently leaving out the fact that it was with a crossbow and not a compound. The crossbow hunter doesnt have to worry about timing the draw to be undetected. He doesn't have to worry about ranging nearly as much once the target is within 50 yards. He didn't have to put in the hours and and hours and years of obsessive practice to become skilled at putting an arrow on the mark.

The big deal isn't about someone using a crossbow. Go for it if it makes you happy and I hope you or anyone fills their freezer with game meat because at the end of the day youre providing for your family and carrying on the hunting tradition that human beings are derived from and that's a great thing.

Just don't call it bowhunting because they have nothing in common.
