Why the hell would anyone download torrents these days? You can just stream them, duh.

There's nothing cool about breaking the law. Torrenting movies and music is no different than date rape.

Say, that reminds me...

How many Polacks does it take to run a torrent site?

Wait a minute, I told it wrong. Here, I'm startin' over. How come it takes three Polacks to run a torrent site?

Torrents are weak. Usenet is really the way to go (I pay $6/mo). Best thing is traffic is SSL encrypted and it's not peer-to-peer, you go pretty much as fast as your internet will let you with little or no risk of being discovered.

If you are technical you can make the investment to buy a QNAP to store the media and install/setup web-based programs on the QNAP itself to manage all of your content. It automatically grabs stuff to download and sorts the media afterwards automatically. You can also do this on a home server if you have the spare hardware. There are tons of guides out there for setting up SABNZBD (downloader), Couchpotato (for movies), and Sonarr (for TV).

I made the up-front investment in a QNAP 3 years ago and haven't paid for a day of cable. I do admit I use my mother-in-law's directTV credentials for WatchESPN.

To everyone defending the cable companies and chastising the pirates of the interweb; the day they allow me to pay for exactly what channels/networks I want is the day I go back to cable. I refuse to fund networks that push whatever agendas they want to push while making money, hand over fist, from the general public.
