My soon to be wife and most of our friends are all alcohol distributors so we never have empty bars. Otherwise, I wouldn't really mind this party, but I wouldn't throw my own. Seems tacky.

I've only heard of bar showers given by others for the couple. Gifts are liquor, wine, bar accessories. Always at someone's home.
