Obviously I hate UVA, but Charlottesville and the surrounding area are a good time, and very family friendly.

If you like wine, there are many Vineyards on the way to UVA from NOVA.

Along with the must stop of Monticello, there are a quite a few Civil War battlefields that are relatively close to and from the DC area.

And like the earlier poster, the UVA tour is really good also.

My brother went to law school at UVA. He went to exactly one home football game. He said it was horrible.

He was kind of spoiled after he was an undergrad at Texas A&M with their student support and UVA was the exact opposite.

Charlottesville is an awesome town though. After practicing in the DC area, he just took a job in Charlottesville just because he liked it so much.
