Oh, I didn't know a whole bunch of people were doing dangerous illegal shite. In that case it's fine.

sounds like your friend needs to find honest work like the rest of us schmucks.
Feeding gators creates a dangerous situation and will get someone killed sooner or later.

Why are you being such a douchebag fricking a-hole? LINK
quote:
Of course, we had to speak to a swamp tour guide to give us a little background about this bizarre feeding ritual. So I called “Captain Jack” from Dr. Wagners Honey Island Swamp Tours in Louisiana. Captain Jack admitted to feeding gators marshmallows (and hot dogs). He says it’s common on tours. “They have been eating marshmallows for years,” he said. Captain Jack wasn’t sure how or why gators developed this appetite. The captain suspects campers accidentally threw marshmallows in the water, which might have started the trend. When asked if he had a scientific background, he amusingly answers: “I’m just a captain on a boat. That’s all I do, sweetie pie.” Of course, feeding alligators is not recommended by scientists. It’s bad for the gators because they grow accustomed to being fed. And it puts people at risk of being bitten. “An alligator can’t tell a hand from a marshmallow,” Delany said. In fact, alligators aren’t what you would call discriminating eaters. “They’ll eat anything given to them,” he said. And this includes good ol’ hipster PBR cans.
Since you're throwing our shite like "Illegal" why don't you fricking prove it?

Gator bites off 11 year old's arm in St Tammany
You were saying?
quote:
Officials were not sure why the alligator attacked the boy, although in warm weather they feed more often, Kinler said. Feeding alligators can also decrease their fear of people and lead to attacks, Kinler said. St. Tammany Parish is the only parish in Louisiana where it is against the law to feed alligators, McCrea said.

So its illegal. You just said it wasn't illegal in any way shape or form. Make up your mind. I don't even care if they're doing it in a parish or area where it's legal, it's fricking stupid and asking for trouble.
Posted on 7/13/16 at 5:13 pm to TheDrunkenTigah
For the guides you all are talking g about. Let's be real here. You were wrong about them.

How can you read the law for the parish and still say this
These are licensed guides working for a licensed business and doing it more that 500 yards from a dwelling.
Can you not read?

Touché
Murpheys law was in full force that night. The one night it's left in truck, that's the night it gets stolen.

Yes he was let go. I wasn't talking about that. I was responding to everyone saying what the guides in St. Tammy parish were doing was illegal. They are dead wrong.

Dude, it's clearly illegal to feed wild gators, there's just a provision within 500 yards of residences. The code you posted is referring to farms and zoos, not wild animals. They may have some kind of tourism license but there is no way they have a license to feed wild gators, they're just taking advantage of the loophole.
Again, I only posted the article saying it was illegal because you freaked out over it. I don't care if it's illegal or not, it teaches gators that humans are a source of food, and it's stupid to defend someone doing that just cause it's the way they decided to make money.

How are you not getting this. It's illegal, and for a damn good reason. You said it wasn't illegal in any way shape or form and you were "dead wrong". I said in my second post in this they could be doing it where it's legal and they're still being irresponsible assholes. You're the one getting all butthurt because your friend got fired. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

quote:how are you not getting this. The thread says "Tour Guides" and this is what i was talking about then the rest of you go off on some tangent about how regular ole baws can't feed gators legally.

Again, what the tour guides are doing is not illegal in any shape or form. You're being purposely obtuse because you don't want to be wrong.
