In all likelihood one of the documents you signed with the dentist is the one that says you acknowledge you are the responsible party for paying for the services you received.
You got your teeth cleaned. That ain't free.

Even though what the dentist did is shitty, Russian is probably right.
All those agreements have you as the ultimate responsible party. This includes even if you had insurance and the provider fricks up billing them, because they are doing that as "courtesy for the patient."
That's why most complaints I see on this board all end the same way, it's because of those financial responsibility docs.
