Am I the only on who thinks signing Les until 2012 is not a good thing. I really have nothing serious against the guy; well except for his occasional clueless thought. He is still winning with the majority of Saban’s players. There have been some whom he has recruited, but it’s not like all of the “big dogs” are his guys. Do we really know what kind of coach he is at this point? We are in the national championship game, thanks PITT, but with anyone of the 4th downs with Florida, a tipped ball against Auburn, giving up 50 pts against Ar-kansas (you might say this is Bo, but the head coach is ultimately responsible, Kentucky, a close one with Bama, this season could have very well had an independence feel to it. We are not real sure if he is that good yet, or at least I’m not.

Does this make any sense?

i mean, he won the SEC... I'm not his biggest fan but you can't argue with the numbers...

I agree, you can't argue the numbers. Is he the best x's and o's coach in the country, maybe not. But does he need to be? A HC is the face of the University and his duties are more like a CEO of a company. In that respect I think he's one of the best.

Our program could have easily gone in the tank after Saban left, but it didn't.

If things slip and our program goes south, so be it. We'll let him go and get someone else.

Pete Carroll is not in the national championship for the 2nd year in a row because his own players couldn't beat third rate teams, he wasn't smart enough to pull a clearly injured and ineffective QB against Stanford, and his own players gave up 17 points in the 4th quarter to Stanford.

Bob Stoops isn't in the NC because his own players couldn't stop TTech and lost a game they clearly should have won against Colorado.

Jim Tressel is lucky as heck to be in the NC because he made a dumb move to call time out giving Illinois a chance to set up a play for 4th down which led to OSU's loss. But he still got in the big game. Last year he got blown out in the NC and thoroughly embarrassed with his own players.

Tommy Tuberville lost to USF and Mississippi State this year with his own players.

I am not sure that any of these guys can coach their own players. Does this make any sense?

sounds good to me, so if we win this game you still dont think he should be our coach, who else would have been, they would be winning or losing with miles players next yr so it doesnt matter.

I dont know that LSU fans will do when we have a good but average season. Perhaps jump off the Miss RIver bridge.

THe Board and Skip and the powrs that be reconginize quality when they see it. We shall be fine

ALso what is happening at Michigan and Arkansas should give us pause. It appears it is not so easy to fill these jobs this year

RP, T. Holliday, KW, Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, D. Byrd, T. Tolliver, B. Lafell, Drake Nevis, Al Jones are Miles players and all are contributers. 19 of 22 starters for Florida last year were Zook recruits. This year they lost 3 games with Meyers players. What the point? Really tired of the he's winning with Saban's players. Saban took over a team at Alabama that has rated 15th nationwide in recruiting since 2003. So the no talent argument at Bama is just not true. And going 6-6 was an underachievment by any standard for the players they had this year.

I think Les Miles should be your coach as long as he wants to be. If he were to leave I think it wouldn't hurt the program much. LSU is a top notch school to coach at. I assume JDR would love to coach here.
