I just tend to be realistic these days in that he's not good enough there.

Go watch our games from the early part of last season. Walcott looked more than serviceable as a striker against Man U, Leicester, and others. In the ten games before his injury against Sheffield Weds. he had 5 goals and 3 assists. His style of play fits in extremely well with what both Alexis and Ozil like to do. We are a more fluid side with him in the team.

His confidence is the issue, not his ability. He had a poor half-season after returning from injury, that I won't deny, but to pretend he isn't good enough is forgetting how good he can be. The injury issue wasn't really his fault either, as he had a muscle injury after being thrown on in a League Cup game where he didn't have time to warm up properly.

For me, he's a more than serviceable forward. When he's confident, which he was for years before his ACL, he is as good a wide player as there is in the league. His stats back this up.

I agree with all of this. I'm a big fan of Walcott up top. We destroyed Manchester United when he played there. The game was over after 27 minutes.

Walcott is certainly capable of great play. But he's inconsistent and injury prone. Until he does it again for several games I don't trust him and we need to buy someone.
