Almost certainly not true, but even so, none of these platforms should be expected to perform particularly well in "dogfights" - the only reason that started reteaching the skill was because the pilots were becoming overreliant on the technology in the 1960s and 1970s.

These aircraft are designed to destroy incoming enemy aircraft from stand off range. They constitute just 1 piece in the air superiority plan.

A friend of mine recently graduated from there. He was an A-10 pilot, but just recently switched to the f-35

I know nothing about the jets, but he said the 35 was ridiculous

horseshite

I know someone VERY high up in the civilian sector whose company does all the contracted work on the Raptor.
At Tyndall AFB an F-22 pilot of distinction was allowed to handpick his four top choices to pilot F-15's against the Raptor in a 4 on 1 engagement out over the Gulf ranges.

The 15's (which, by the way, are 123-0 in air-combat engagements around the globe) were annihilated. They never came close to getting a simulated missile shot......... period.

So unless the Raptor pilot was asleep in his bunk while the F-15's strafed his plane sitting on the tarmac....I call BS.

I think the coolest thing about the F-35 is being able to launch a missile from a ship way off shore and have the F-35 pick up the control and targeting of the missile and the F-35 select the target and guide it along its way.

bullshite. F22 would take out F15 before the f15 even knew the Raptor was there.

F-35's have had the deck stacked against them, if we are being honest. They currently aren't allowed to go over a certain G limit (7Gs, I believe was the last number I heard).

This was what's called an "accelerated acquisition program". Basically, the military/congress identified a capability gap, saw a quickly thrown together product, and purchased many of them before doing any developmental or operational testing.

The software is YEARS behind where it should be, and some of the new technologies incorporated into the jet are causing issues that would have been identified in a dedicated developmental and operational test scenario before buying so many of them.

The F-35 basically has had the deck stacked against it in every arena since its conception, which is why I don't care at all what aircraft "beats it" in simulated dogfights. I mean really, guys... They haven't even been able to develop tactical maneuvers in the thing because of how low the acceptable G-limit is (which also has to do mainly with software running behind).

You do realize you are talking about two different things when it comes to dog fights and "not even knowing they were there," right?

I'm not saying you're wrong, just arguing two different things.

My brother has worked AWACS control on several F-22 vs. F-15 missions and said the F-22s drop the F-15s like flys, every time.
