hard to say he'll be as good as Ray Allen was for that long, but that is who he reminds me of.

Hield was on NBATV:
- Said he is grateful for the opportunity, thinks he will love New Orleans.
- Looks forward to playing with Jrue, Evans, Davis and Ryno(not sure that will happen).
- Said he still has a lot to prove. His work is not done yet.
- Said he has his sights on rookie of the year. Jokingly said he has to go out there and set the tone for these rookies. Show them how its done.
Then their panel talked about how they went to see him play Michigan State a few years ago. Talked about how it goes unsaid how he hung his hat more on defense his Sophomore and Junior year and implied that got lost a bit in his scouting. How impressed they were that game and others. That he tinkered with his shot and took on a more offensive role his senior year and that his success in doing so at such an efficient rate is a testament to his ability to develop, improve and grow as a player in the NBA.

Nice little hype piece on Buddy from a writer on The Ringer that loves him:

The LSU and Kansas highlights in particular are pretty crazy.

So is the consensus you guys wanted Hield or Murray? I don't follow college enough to know much about the player in detail, but it seemed Murray from what I read would have been a great pick. The games I did see last year Hield was going off. Will his game transition well to the NBA and was he the better fit for NOLA? I don't think his age bothers me if anything he's ready to play now.
I know the OP is melting but what about most of the Pels fans?

I was probably his biggest advocate so I may not be the best person for answering but I think most of his game will translate and he has the sort of work ethic and drive that it is hard to think he won't improve further.
I don't think he steps in and is a 20ppg scorer but I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility he could be in the running for rookie of the year like he said he is striving for.
I think Murray is honestly the wrong kind of tweener. I think he will have a decent career but he will always be a guy that will struggle defensively and has a longer road to being consistently effective then people think. I would of been upset taking him over Hield but I do think he has good potential, even if I don't think he will reach it fully.

That's pretty damn impressive. What kind of NBA player do you guys think he'll be? Who's a good comparison?
Ray Allen/D-Wade hybrid in my eyes.

Cmon man, don't put expectations like that on the kid.

I watched him live vs LSU and I came away very impressed. I think he will be a very good addition to the Pelicans

The fact that he made a monstrous jump in 1 year proves to me that he has "IT". He wants to be great and has the work ethic to make it happen. That's huge.
