I felt the same way when I slept with a girl 10 years younger than me for the first time. I realized that I had finally made it, and that life was beautiful. I think I cried a little as I ejaculated inside of her.

Congrats! I will echo it is the most rewarding thing you'll ever do in your life.

Our son is almost 2 (20 months) and is the best thing i've ever done in my life.

Ignore the idiots. You will be approached by assholes saying "congrats, now your life is over" or "yeah they're fine now, but wait until they start crawling/walking/talking/etc..." These people are miserable my nature, and want you to be miserable with them. They make parenting out to be a bad thing, because they WANT IT TO BE A BAD THING.

Yes, you will lose sleep, but you'll get used to it. The first month was the roughest for me, but after that, it gets easier. Just remember, when they are that age, they are crying for 3 reason. They are either tired, hungry, or have to poop. That really is all (barring any medical issues).
When they get older and go to daycare (if you are going that route) they will get sick, and the first time that temp gets past 103, you will freak out. Our son had an ear infection and his temp was 101. We packed up our things and were heading to the hospital, and his temp was 103. We got to the hospital and his temp was 105. I was so scared i was shaking. Come to find out, babies can withstand a much higher temperature, but good thing we came in. We went to the ER 1 more time, due to the same type of thing. That all was when he was about 5-8 months old.

Now, he runs around the house (only on his tip toes) and is a parrot. He knows most of his colors, can count to 10 (but skips one and 6) and i swear he can read some words (or maybe that's just repetition). He has some of the same manuerisms as i do as well, which is kind of awesome. He loves books, little einsteins, and doing anything outside.

I can't wait to have #2 and i want #3, but i'll have to do some convincing to have #3 with the wife.

Enjoy it man, it's a great feeling being a dad.

Really gives you the correct perspective on the gorilla issue, doesn't it?

Congrats.

I have a 10 and 12 year old and I can tell you, it only gets better for you. I love watching every little milestone of them growing up. It's amazing.

It definitely changes your life. I've got two boys, 3 1/2 and 1 1/2, and they are awesome. But it's also hard. Real hard. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done. You're gonna lose sleep, lose time, lose freedom. Sometimes I feel like I'm dead on my feet. But it's all worth it at the end of the day when my oldest tells me our little night time mantra "Night night, stay in bed, don't get out of bed.... I love you daddy".

Or when my youngest runs up to me when I get home, gives me a kiss, hug, and high five, and then runs away laughing.

Good luck!

You'll rarely hear me speak ill of those who don't.

Being a parent, especially when they're young, is so...bipolar. They bring such true joy and such severe aggravation.

Sometimes both within the span of a few seconds and several times over every 30 minutes.

Now the people I don't get are the ones that have 4+ kids. I can't fathom that.

Congrats. I have a 4 month old and I already can't remember life before him. Seeing his smile first thing in the morning and when I get home from work are the highlights of my day. Now, he's starting real food so his shite is real nasty right now, but the rest is great lol.

I've really enjoyed reading these posts - even the smart aleck ones. I'm typing this while holding my two year old granddaughter as we watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on my day off. Having the time of my life! And you guys can have all of your millions. There's more than one way to be rich, and I feel like Bill Gates sitting here. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

So, congrats on the new little life God has given you. Hope this baby brings you much joy and peace

Yeah I'm joking as far as downhill. It's great but with those times requiring extreme patience, self-control and bearing. I had great parents so at least I have that model in my head. My favorite age is probably 3-7, when they're cute and silly without even trying and start learning how to do enough to make things a bit easier, but before the attitude starts kicking in.

I'm off this afternoon and will be with my almost 2 year old niece. We have a full afternoon of Super Why and Little Einsteins on the schedule. And cookies. She knows I'm the sucker who will give her a cookie
