A Texas man who was found guilty of speeding asfter contesting a ticket has taken out his anger by paying the fine with about 22,000 pennies.

"I'm not a big fan of extortion," Sanders explains in the video he posted to YouTube. "I was convicted by a jury for driving 39 in a 30 and was subject to $212 at the barrel of a gun."
quote:
In his 5-minute video, Sanders then fills up the buckets with pennies using a shovel before hauling them down to a county clerk to pay the fine. As the camera rolls, Sanders lifts up his buckets one after the other and dumps the hundreds of dollars in pennies on the desk. The clerk, unsurprisingly, looks displeased.
quote:
“It felt great. It really felt great,” Sanders told NBC Chicago, who reported that the clerk's employees used a local CoinStar machine to count the change. It took them three hours. By the end of it, it apeared Sanders had overpaid by $7.81. He said the clerk's office could keep the extra.

I'm really failing to see why this is news.
ETA: I really don't get the downvotes. This guy was an a-hole to someone that had nothing to do with what he was mad about. Whoopdeedoo.

This is the same kind of person that probably shares Facebook posts about wasteful government spending while his county clerk is spending 3 hours at a fricking CoinStar machine.

Well, yeah, I would be too if I were the clerk. The clerk didn't write the ticket, set the fine, or find the guy guilty of speeding, but they're the one who has to deal with some pathetic guy exacting his "revenge."

What an arse.
The fact that he took rolled and boxed pennies and unrolled them to create buckets of loose pennies makes him an even bigger arse.

That ain't shite baw... My cousin read on Facebook there was a guy in south Texas who paid in pesos. The DMV had to go and get the 30,000 pesos coverted to US money.
THEN, the guy at the bank said he got a speeding ticket just last week. He wouldn't exchange the money for anything more than pennies... CSB....

If I was the clerk that had to pick that up, i'd find out where this little shite works and do the same thing, regardless of who has to pick up all the pennies i'd drop on them. I'm assuming he works at some hip fast food place. order a bunch of veggie burgers or whatever and throw a bucket of pennies over the counter.

Why do you people hate America and it's legal tender?

I don't know how to feel. I like that this guy was so pissed that he went through the trouble to deliver his fine in pennies, but I kind of feel like it sucks that he has to deliver it to someone who is completely 100% not involved with issuing it.

I'm calling BS on this. Unless there's some special law in Texas the DMV doesn't have to accept pesos.
