If we had lost WW2 then the bombings of German and Japanese cities would have been viewed as war crimes. Of course the bombing of civilians by Germans and Japanese fall into the same category. It is also hard to believe the terrible behaviors of Japanese and Germans during the war would not have continued for at least some time afterwards if they had been the victors.
War is terrible and should be avoided whenever possible. Moral judgement becomes harder to follow when the possibility of annihilation is real.

We absolutely needed the nukes to save american lives and Japanese lives as well. Japan back then was unbelievably cruel, would've fight to the death in a brutal and bloody invasion and a huge show of force was needed to break their spirits and their will in order for them to surrender.

This is how I interpreted the word evil from Obama. frick Obama, but I'm not opposed to this move today. This is a big moment in US history and Japan as an alliance makes us a more powerful country.
