i prefer salt or cheese grits, but there is nothing wrong with sugar and butter in it, but it really doesn't taste like grits anymore. Its more like a breakfast dessert. Kind of like hot buttered sweet rice, its good just not something I like everyday.

bring the down votes bitchs and yes I was born, raised and still live in south LA.

I'll give you an upvote.

Born and raised in New Orleans and always grew up eating them sweet with sugar and butter.

Wasn't until later that I started making them with salt, pepper, and cheese; and I probably enjoy them more that way.

That said, grits were never a staple in our household and don't do much for me now as an adult.

Cream of Wheat all day, every day!
