Everywhere in the South other than South LA. Sugar in grits happens all over the place. I'm not saying it's good, or that I agree with it. But it is quite common in most parts of Dixie Land.

i prefer salt or cheese grits, but there is nothing wrong with sugar and butter in it, but it really doesn't taste like grits anymore. Its more like a breakfast dessert. Kind of like hot buttered sweet rice, its good just not something I like everyday.
