First time I saw this (or even heard of it) actually WAS on Southern's campus.

A bunch of us were in the dining hall one morning, and this guy from Dallas was sitting across from me, and he was about to pour sugar in his grits ... as his potna, I reached out quickly and grabbed his wrist. "DUDE, that's SUGAR, not salt! ... you're about to fugg up your whole plate!" I told him ...

He was like, "good lookin' out, but I know. I put sugar in my grits."

The second he said that, it was like the whole room stopped and went silent. All my other friends from New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana looked at him as if he had just come out of the closet.

My best friend, who was babysitting for my son, fed him sugared grits one day. I hardly knew what to say! Haha, I kept my grateful mouth shut, but inside I was all like, .

And we were raised in the same south Louisiana town, so I don't know where she got that from.
