Different airlines ascend and descend differently

Different airlines put different amounts of effort into finding a smooth altitude

Ascending and descending slowly and searching around for comfy air = fuel = money

Spirit and southwest ascend like mad men. Spirit puts the least amount of effort into finding smooth air.

Delta climbs slowly and searches out the smoothest ride.

You literally get what you pay for.

One of the worst flights I have ever been on was Spirit coming back from Cancun. I definitely believe it.

Yep, and they basically just fall onto the runway when landing.

You can have comfortable or cheap, but not both.

Flying out of Tampa back to New Orleans yesterday I thought our pilot was trying to emulate a space shuttle launch. Wheels left the ground and it felt like we damn near went vertical. Fastest I've ever reached cruising altitude
