Who calls blacks "chicken-eaters" and "watermelons" as slurs? No self-respecting racist is that unimaginative.
It's Idaho, I doubt they get much practice.
Beat me by two minutes.

Yeah, since when did we expect racist high school football players to execute forcible rape and mental and physical abuse like they were in Ocean's 11

This is something new. Guys raping guys on sports teams seems to be a growing trend. Kind of like the poor kid from Chattanooga that got raped with a pool stick by his teammates.
I REALLY don't want to sound like I'm defending this in any way, because it is truly despicable, but I don't think over-the-top violent initiations are a new fad. We hear about them more often because of the ease with which information is spread. If anything, I'd say hazing is treated much more seriously today than at any point in the past, so one would think that sickening events like this were occurring in the past when people were more apt to turn a blind eye to hazing.

Yeh the LSU football team used to hold down players against their will and shave their balls when they were getting married. That isnt coat hanger in the butthole stuff, but it still isnt good

But sticking a coat hanger up a disabled kids arse takes being a complete a-hole to a new level; even for jocks.

The crazy thing...well ok not the craziest part of it but imagine at some point, probably once the clippers hit your balls, you have to consider making a conscious decision to "cooperate" and be as still as possible, right?

one of the "drills" for freshmen used to be to stick a grape up their arse and make them crab walk backwards for a hundred yards with an upper classman walking along side, if the grape fell out, the frosh had to eat it

Yes and it shouldn't even be debatable. Hell I was a jock too but we never in a thousand years thought about doing this kinda shite.

We're less tolerant of hazing now than ever before, so logically, why would it never have happened in the past?

No doubt, and I don't think I've argued otherwise. I guess my point is that if this kind of thing happens when hazing and abuse is at the forefront of high school athletics, then it stands to reason that this happened when hazing was more or less accepted and ignored. In no way, shape, or form does that take away from the horrifying nature of these acts, but I'm just defending the notion that this is some proof that America is going to hell.

This isn't some attack on jocks. I was a jock too, and of course we wouldn't have done this kind of thing, but to suggest it isn't plausible that it occurred and went unreported 20, 30, 40 years ago is naïve.
Hell, this took all of 30 seconds to find:
quote:
Three young boys, aged 11, 10, and 7, read about hazing practices in college and decided to try it themselves. They built a fire in a pasture behind the schoolhouse and led nine-year-old Ralph Canning to the spot. They heated a number of stones until they were red hot. The boys forced Canning to both sit and stand on the hot stones and held him there despite his screams. The boys then either walked or jumped on him (depending on the source). He was finally allowed to leave and he crawled home, where he died two weeks later
That was in 1904.

Not according to the suit....
quote:
The lawsuit paints Howard as the ringleader of the racist abuse against the boy, who was adopted at age four by white parents living in the predominantly white town of 334 people.
“Mr. Howard is a large and aggressive male who had been sent to live with his relatives in Idaho due to his inability to keep out of trouble in Texas,” the complaint says.
“Mr. Howard is a relative of prominent individuals in the community and, at least in part due to his athletic ability and community connections, the Defendants ignored or were deliberately indifferent to the behavior of Mr. Howard which included aggression, taunting and bullying of The Plaintiff and other students in the District. With deliberate indifference, the Defendants did nothing to curb the vicious acts of Mr. Howard who brought with him from Texas a culture of racial hatred towards the Plaintiff.”
