I built a 2x4 frame with 1/2 inch plywood on the top and bottom. (Basically a plywood rectangle without the sides.)
Made it the length of the matress, about 18 inches wide and placed it under the wood slats down the middle of the bed.
Just used scrap wood so no cost to me. Much sturdier than individual legs as well.
