I don't know what you're trying to say here.
The two are directly related to each other. In HS, his natural talent was so great that he never needed to put the work into developing skills to do well. But he should've known that he would eventually need those skills once the talent gap between him and everyone else shrunk.

By all accounts he works really hard him not developing offensively is more due to his natural talent than the amount of work he puts in.
