So told the wife id replace her old MacBook and looking at new ones wtf
MacBooks now have one USB C port. That's it ?!? So any peripherals I have can't be plugged into this and if I have more than one I'm screwed . I just don't understand , do people not plug in a mouse or external hard drive or flash drive (considering these things only come with a 256gb hard drive) seems like a minimum of 4 USB ports would be necessary
Do I just need to break her of the Mac love or is their a way people can actually function with these overpriced computers

Apple is obsessed with thinness to the detriment of many users. If you want something better get a MacBook Pro.
ETA: I've thought about this some more and your wife will probably be perfectly happy with a MacBook Air. And lucky for you it is the cheapest MacBook Apple offers.

Dude. You are aware that there are multiple models and not just the "MacBook", right?
Get her a MacBook Pro or Air if you need all those ports.

I have a MBP and my wife has a MB. We bought her a usb-c hub and it's fine but I agree they should have put one on each side.

For what? It has an amazing track pad.

Just buy a 13" Macbook pro.
The touchpads have gotten so good people do not connect mouse that much any more. If you need a mouse, look for a bluetooth one.

You don't know what is best for you. Apple knows what is best for you.

I have one and it's fantastic. The one USB-C port has really only been a pain once where the battery didn't last long enough to do a backup to my external hard drive. But otherwise it really hasn't been an issue. It's super light and the new keyboard is awesome. I recommend a bluetooth mouse though, although I haven't been using one, the trackpad is pretty sweet.

The build quality and the materials/design/software that go into an Apple product are simply better. My MBP 2010 has never had to be repaired for anything, never a virus/malware etc. I did upgrade the ram in it but its still pretty fast. Last year I went and bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with an i7, SSD, pretty much as good as you could get and there's been one problem after another. Drivers, connect-ability, display trouble.. OSX and Apple products in general hold up better with fewer issues. Just my personal experience though.
