That is extremely slippery-slopish. How many kids play CoD, Battlefield, and other combat-oriented video games? A ton of them. They miss the physical component, but they still promote tactical thinking (if you're any good).

And I don't think that playing games like dodgeball or tug of war or Call of Duty is necessary to become an innovative military strategist. There are many ways to learn the kind of thinking that is required for military exploits.

Not quite analogous, but the total lack of teaching military history in school, a fundamental component of history and geography, contributes to this feminization.

Omitting military history doesn't fully paint the picture of our societal development and the struggles Western civilization has experienced.

(I theorize this lack of knowledge of 20th century history, communism/socialism specifically, is the basis for most support for Bernie Sanders by people under 25. They missed the failure of communism and the 100 million+ it killed, plus no one taught them the truth, so communism doesn't seem so bad.)

According to my AP American history teacher, who was on the national board that wrote the exam (1996), she said the primary reason of military history has been abandoned is boys excelled at it and it didn't engage girls as emotionally. Girls performed much worse on essay questions that entailed historical developments based on military outcomes, I.e most of the 20th century.

Echoing comments below about boys playing games, I can see how military history would engage high school boys more than Emily Dickinson (garbage) poems and Toni Morrison incest stories.

Try teaching western history without mentioning Athens, Sparta, Caesar, Charlemagne, Robert E. Lee, Patton, Rommel, MacArthur, Napoleon, Hannibal or Genghis Khan and you get a bunch of unfulfilled misfit boys who don't know about the struggles what made us who are as a society.
