I am going to put a sprinkler system in this weekend and was looking for some advice on PVC pipe. I am assuming that most systems are installed with PVC SCH 40 pipe and not the cheaper flexible pipe? Rented a trencher and will work on it this weekend while there is good weather. Any other advice or things to look out for?

I would bet that the vast majority are done with the flexible tubing. I would say that it may not have the overall durability as PVC, but because it comes in rolls, there will not be nearly as many joints as there would be with stick pipe....and more joints mean more potential leaks.

I think I would find the best quality roll pipe I could find and use that...also, better quality sprinkler heads makes a huge difference.

lastly, if you really want to do it right, install some copper tracer wire in the trench so that you can locate the lines in the future.

I used to install them, and we just used regular PVC. We used PVC for the main lines and big heads, and flex pipe for the smaller stuff
