Dawg - we generally don't need the course, as a DD214 with small arms training (like basic) generally suffices. I had heard that was changing (I'm NOT a CCW holder, but this may be what pushes me over the line - can't wait for Constitutional Carry much longer) and not sure how recertification goes, but that's why you don't see uniformed military students (at least I think that is the likely reason.)

Legally that's right - if applied for within 5 years of discharge.

Practically, I do hear from a fair number of former .mil folks, even some within the 60 month window, who want to learn about civilian "rules of engagement."
