I disagree.
I don't want anything to do with him if he's getting max, or near max money. I think there are plenty of players that can provide near what he does for considerably less.
The only way i could justify spending that much money on him is if i was a team that already had my two superstars on good contracts and needed that extra wing player to push us over the edge to be a sure championship team.
We aren't that team.

My god. This is the entire point.
Every superstar is on a good contract because their earning are capped artificially. Anthony Davis will be underpaid when his max kicks in. LeBron James has been making (often much) less than half his value for his entire career. The extra money these guys don't get goes to lesser players, like Batum, because teams have to spend it either in FA or in escrow checks.
He's another way to think about it- Davis/Batum starting at $40-$45M from 2016-2020 is a good deal. Who (other than Davis, his family, and his agent) cares how it is split up?
