No security deposit. There's some thing about security deposits being charged interest or something so a lot of places just want a move in fee. So today I paid the move in fee and the prorated fee for May to move in May 5. And when I move in, they want June's rent and I won't have to pay again till July.
I saw one article by the Tribune about it but not much else.

some of the nicer apartments do this. We paid prorated March and full April upon moving in on like March 25th or something like that.
I think the theory behind it is that someone that doesn't belong could come up with one month pretty easy. So you weed people out by asking alot up front

Sounds about right. If you were moving in May 25 you would have to do the same. Just a lot less for May.

So you are paying the rent for May, and the rent for June, both upfront, but no security deposit, and you won't pay rent again til July? Sounds to me like it's a way to charge a higher security deposit and keep some of the trash out that can't afford two months upfront. I'd do that any time over a security deposit
