I hate Bama but this guy is nasty I'd love to get him on second. Thoughts

I agree. Need to get stronger up the middle. It'd allow us to kick Anthony to outside.

The only way I would have been cool with it is if we had acquired an extra 2nd round pick, and even then I'd take say Cravens and a guard.

He's already moving to Sam.

I think we're okay at LB with Anthony, Ellerbeast, and pineapple express, + then addition of JL. I can see a Safety later on to give us some freedom with vaccaro.

But Guard absolutely needs to be addressed today.

In a normal year I think if we are going LB with concerns (coverage, enlarged aorta thing, injury, whatever) you take a shot on Jack or Jaylon Smith. Both top rated prospects if they don't have the injury concerns. However, with how many times we have missed on prospects I don't think you can take any chances. Reason why I really like the Rankins pick. JMO

I want more interior linemen. D or O.

Of course Myles Jack LB (not an interior player) would be great but will likely be gone, then

I like Cody Whitehair OG if still available

followed by the 4-5 quality DEs/DTs left.

then Ragland or a rangy WR

Those too.

There's just so many other positions that are more important, and I don't think Ragland is going to be anything special. James L will hold us over for a year. We can target the position again in the next draft.

I'd like to add more depth, we can never have enough tough guys in the middle to stop the run in obvious situations. Today will be interesting ready for the second round to start.

Plenty of guys that fit our needs better left on the board. Ragland is a great run stuffer, but will only be a two down player. I would say wait for OL, but there is a lot of intriguing talent left (Whitehair) that I would love to snag. Ultimately I would love Spence or Michael Thomas. Jack depending on what the docs saw.

Then you could probably get Scoobie Wright in the later rounds.

Didn't they just find out he has an enlarged aorta or something. That seems more cumbersome than Jack's knee

There will still be good value for a guard in the 3rd rd. We taking the BPA out of DE,WR, and maybe another DT if the value is there. I would say Myles Jack but someone will trade up in the top of the second for him.

Per PFF

quote:

Fourth-overall grade among the nation’s linebackers: 18th against the run, 13th in coverage, and ninth as a pass-rusher.

quote:

Ragland brings a strong all-around game to the table as he grades at +10.7 against the run, +8.2 in coverage, and +9.3 as a rusher (three sacks, five hits, 10 hurries on 75 attempts).

Ragland was good in coverage his entire collegiate career. Stop talking out of your arse

yup. we cannot afford to take any chances. We need guys who can start and/or contribute heavily now in the defensive front 7. games are won or lost on the LOS. grab another DT or DE.
