Your best bet is to find his draw length BEFORE you buy anything. Some bows (Mathews solo can models for one) have draw length specific cams. You'll have to spend $80+ for a new cam to change the draw length.
Have him stand with his back to you and arms extended parallel to the ground. Measure finger tip to finger tip and divide by 2.5.

Yeah, definitely check his draw length BEFORE you buy anything.
