If we're talking about compound bows, as I assume we are, it has to be "fitted" in that it needs to be the correct draw length. Most bows will adjust a couple of inches or so. So, get his draw length checked, and make sure the bow is set to fit him.

Thanks Teague, that helps a lot. I had heard they needed to be fitted but did not understand if it was the size of the bow or what. So that likely means I can buy a used one off of say ebay (there are several listed under $100) and pay a bow shop to fit it?
