I really don't give a shite what your friend's family said about his cremation but sorry for your loss.

But on a sidenote, I'd heard that funeral homes were telling families that the law required embalming for all bodies whether buried or cremated. That kinda pissed me off so I did some research and it's totally not true (the law part, not sure what funeral homes may lie about).

No bodies require embalming according to Louisiana law (RS37:848), they only require embalming OR refrigeration if they aren't buried or cremated in 30 hours. And nearly every morgue has the ability to refrigerate a body.

So if a funeral home tries to take advantage of your weakened state and hose you for an embalming fee, tell them to go to hell. frick those vultures.



ETA I changed leeches to vultures because it seemed more appropriate.

Seriously, that's pretty interesting stuff. Shame that funeral homes treat families like they're buying a used car.
