He had 2 TDs in overtime and one in the last minute of the game. He didn't play well that game.

Wasn't he also hurt though?

Either way, that's a long way from terrible.

I would love to see what his letter to the Packers, Patriots, or Saints said. "I know you have a future hall of famer at QB currently. But hear me out....."

JR was rated correctly in college. He was a physical freak that was a bale to excel with a poor work ethic. Then he got drafts by quite possibly the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports. For a guy with a poor work ethic, your not going to learn one from Oakland.

Shame, really. Insane that he supposedly broke now too. Hope his entourage is happy.

This would be a great premise for a reality show. Find a few recognizable busts or short-timers, who have been out of the game for some minimum time (say, three years, five years, etc.). JR would certainly qualify. Then document their going through a process of conditioning, nutrition, life counseling, and position coaching to see if they can work into getting an NFL tryout. The coach/mentor would of course be a gruff, demanding drill sergeant type (Ditka?) who would break them down then start building them back up.

Could be lots of drama, as some fall back into old lifestyle and drop out, while others complete the camp and though not returning to the field, use the experience to positively change their lives. But the real goal would be at least one making their way back to an NFL roster. A little bit "Rocky" and a little bit "Kitchen Nightmare."

Word.

I want to say I remember right before halftime trying a hail Mary and he could barely throw it 30 yards or so

Pretty sure he is looking to latch on as a back up QB.

You aren't very bright are you?

He was doomed once he went to the Raiders. I wonder how his career would have panned out if he had gone to, say, the Eagles at the time under Andy Reid?

4 TDs, no turnovers = terrible?

4.45 yards per attempt and a 47% completion rate is. Two of those TDs came in OT as well. If Jamarcus had put up those numbers and lost, he would have been blamed for playing poorly

I have seen people say this on message boards with absolutely no proof whatsoever. I think it's just assumed because he's an idiot and was a bust. But, from things I've heard, he's not broke, or close even close to it, but take that for what it's worth

if he gets in great shape without using drugs to do it, he will get another shot.

nd couldn't beat out a third rate college QB early on.

But he was "great"

He became greater after whipping an underwhelming and overrated Notre Dame team - and then he became even greater at the combine and his personal workouts and once he selected 1st overall, he was an even greater college QB. He seemed to get better the further he got away from his college career.

JR's college stats prove he was an overrated college QB.

He was pretty terrible. Before OT he was 19/43 for 176 yards and 2 TDs. That's pretty awful, although I'll give him credit for that last drive in regulation to tie it.

Jamarcus Russell won the Manning award for best QB in the country his junior year
3129 yards 28 TDs 8 INTs 67.8 completion % does not prove he was overrated,

He was 6th in the county in comletion percentage
14th in passing yards
4th in yards per attempt
11th in TDs
3rd in efficiency

Stats actually prove he was an outstanding college QB. Opinions from people like you are the only thing that say otherwise

He also had another TD that was called back because Doucet wasn't lined up correctly.
