Probably closer to 20. Flatheads and grass carp are the fastest growing freshwater fish in the country...

If Flatheads are so good to eat, and they are the fastest growing catfish, then why do we farm Channels instead of Flatheads? Feed conversion ratio?

Wrong LSUballs, flat heads are the slowest growing of the sub species. Others close to this size have all been aged well over 50+ years old. Good shot this thing is 75+. LDWF had a study years ago of a group of flatheads in the 10 to 15 lb range. All were on average 12 years old with none younger than 9
