Trout also hasn't been elite defensively since 2012. He's an okay fielder but nothing special and he doesn't steal bases like he used to. Since Trout's all-around game isn't that much greater than Harper's, I really don't see how you can make a case for him at this point.

I mean he has put up 40 WAR over the past 4 years when he was 20-23. I think it would be pretty easy to make a case for him. Just as it would be for Harper.
