Honestly, just use what you like. You're probably using it as a secondary weapon, so it doesn't matter too much. Moveset is always more important than damage.

This is my line of thinking too. I can also add crescent to a broad sword which has the move set I like.

There are a ton of options. Mess around with the weapons and see what you enjoy using. That's what matters.

Finally got a chance to play again and 2-2 is awful. It's not that it's hard it just has so many stupid ways to die. And the level doesn't make sense as far as where I should be going.

I would learn where to drop down in the hole. There is the potential to fall down but if you learn it then it's easy. The other direction takes a while and has more enemies but good for farming materials.

4-2 was the best place to farm though. Could like 3-4 levels in just a few minutes.
