The cuts in the athletic department resulted because UND needs to trim approximately $12.6 million from its budget as state revenue forecasts are lower than expected due to falling oil and commodity prices.
Baseball has been played continuously since 1956 and the sport has roots at the school dating back to 1889. Men’s golf has been played every year at UND since 2008.
The cuts will affect seven student-athletes and one coach in golf and 29 student-athletes and five coaches in baseball, according to the school’s website.
