Generally speaking, in many LA parishes, a citizen's direct appeal to the DA will yield the same result if your driving record is unblemished.

To OP: the state bar assn has various interest sections tied to areas of law. Most sponsor regular CLEs and networking functions. There are also professional organizations like the LACDL (criminal defense), the LAFJ (trial attys, civil matters), the DA's assn, etc. All sponsor CLEs....as do the four law schools in Louisiana.

Those with very specialized practices (multi jurisdiction toxic torts, med-mal, and so on) are often engaged with national organizations of such attys.
