I'd like to say that I'm not saying this is a great idea, but if the play is part of a multi-base hit, then the 1B is pretty much out of the play, except for a cut-off or back-up. It would be easier to have the 1B handle the throw at home. Why bother switching gloves? Just have the 1B rotate in to cover home.

Better idea is make catchers work on improving their skills in this area.

This seems like a great idea until the first time a star 1B gets trucked at home and injured. I know rules have changed, but it can still happen.
