After you wound him with the scatter gun you pick him off as he limps down the street with the .22.

Besides the fact your sociology professor told you, what makes owning a firearm paranoid?

No paranoia here. I view my personal defense firearms as tools to be employed in case of emergency.

More people need to learn this. Also, if you keep more than 2 loaded guns unlocked in your house, you are either getting into some shady shite or paranoid as frick.

You ever heard the phrase "you don't know what you don't know until you know it"? You should think about that for a second. If someone has more than 2 loaded firearms (doesn't really matter the number) in their house that means nothing more than if someone breaks into their house they are prepared. Sorry you aren't prepared.

Serious question: has anyone ever broken into your house?

Classic case of "it'll never happen to me". Point is you never know. Treat it like a condom: its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Because if they had you would know you only have time to go to one place to get a gun. You aren't going to be running around your house like it's a fortress with 3 guns attached to your chest playing Rambo.

If it makes you feel more macho, you're welcome to do as you please. It just isn't any more practical for your safety is all.
