sounds like you properly pushed the pistons back into place.
Are you sure you have the exact right pads? If it won't fit over the rotor then you need to push the piston in more, bu if you can't even get the pads into the caliper it's possible you have the wrong part.

The Pistons won't go back any further. Pads seat just fine. The caliper won't go over to bolt on. Not even sure if I can get the top one bolted to try and swing/bang the caliper over. Shouldn't be that tight.
