Anytime you feel unsafe in a 22', you'd feel unsafe in a 24'. The difference is that the 24' handles "unsafe" conditions much more comfortably. Specifically based on the two you mentioned, I'd go with the 220.
Somewhat unrelated, but I really hate boats with the little step down thing in the front. I think it's a total waste of space. I wish they'd all get rid of them.

I agree! Almost all of them have them now too.. I went with the frontier being it doesn't have it and I can put an ice chest there for fish. I like the layout of the sx230 though.
