I drove one years ago as a rental when my truck was in the body shop. It had a 3 cylinder engine and I've owned lawnmowers with more horsepower. If I ran over a piece of gum I had to downshift. If I was driving top speed at 55 mph and turned on the A/C is was as if someone kicked that car in the nuts. The speed immediately dropped to 40 mph. I hit a moth while driving on the interstate and did $400 worth of damage.

I couldn't begin to fathom how someone could go to the Geo dealership, test drive that POS and say, "This is the car for me, I have to buy it".

My buddy in high school wrecked his car and had to drive a geo metro for several months. 3 cylinders ~48 horsepower. We topped it out around 80 mph if I remember correctly. We also made a cardboard body kit for it and went around town trolling fast cars for a race

I loved driving that car though because it had the easiest clutch I've ever driven. I've driven automatic everything my whole life so I'm not great with a manual transmission, but I could work the one in that Geo like a charm.

Oh and we timed it's 0-60 at about 24 seconds

I have driven one, but bought a Civic hatchback instead back in the early 90's. Not a bad car for the money, but I never understood why anyone would get the 3 cylinder option instead of the 4 cyl.

I'm no car snob but I remember I got a ride in a Geo Metro once when I was probably 13. I had never heard of a Geo Metro but I remember thinking it was BY FAR the shittiest car I had ever been in. I'm pretty sure it actually topped out around 75 mph and at anything over 60 it shook in an unsettling manner.

Never drove a Metro, but I dated a girl who had a Geo Prism. Truthfully, it wasn't a bad little car. It was slow as molasses and you felt intimidated driving on the interstate with truck-nut baws weaving by, but overall it wasn't a bad car for a 20 year old girl. It didn't matter if you barely touched the gas or if you mashed it down with everything you had, it was only going to accelerate at one speed. Handled surprisingly well, but with that short and wide of a wheel base, I guess that's to be expected.

My ex had one. Took forever to get up to 60, don't think we every made it to 70. frick that car. I'd rather drive a lawn mower or golf cart.

Before the days of Gator Tail and Pro Drive surface drives the motors were great to use in 15-17' mudboat. Relatively light and decent power.

Got a rental for a few days in Palm Springs when my wife and I first got married. Told the agent to give me the least expensive car he had. It was a red Geo Metro.

Stuck out like a sore thumb driving down Rodeo Drive. We decided to go on the Palm Desert Tram and had to turn off the A/C to get enough power to go uphill to get to the tram station.

Easily the crappiest car I have ever experienced.

Mom had to get a rental car one time. All they had was a Geo Metro and we have a family of 6. She had to come pick me up from High School, and I had no idea she was driving this. She pulls up to the front of the school, kids all around, and honks and hollers at me just to embarrass me. It worked.

No, but I learned to drive in a Geo Tracker. I used to cruise around the neighborhood in that thing all day long.

My Mom taught in Iota when I was in 1st grade, and I can remember riding in our piece of shite Metro every morning on the way to school with her. We fly down the interstate going 65 mph in that beast. We had a frickin piece of plywood bolted to the floor because some of the floor was rusted through . We weren't poor either, my Mom also had a brand new Chevy Mark van that was the family vehicle and my Dad had a Silverado as a company vehicle so the Metro was strictly used as a mileage vehicle for my Mom. Good times.

Had one for a few months while in Venezuela. Anyone who's ever driven in Venezuela knows why that would be problematic. I parked it at the airport in Barcelona and left it...

Funny thing was it had the darkest window tint of any vehicle I've been in to date, including cop cars. The top 8 inches or so of the windshield was black vinyl and the rest the windshield was probably close to 20%. Bizarre.

I drove a Geo Tracker every day for a year while stationed in Korea. Paid $300 cash.

Come to think of it, it was the most reliable car I ever had.
