29 November 2007 Afternoon Scoop

Sources tell us the negotiations between Auburn and Coach Tommy Tuberville are getting very contentious. If Tub wants to stay in Auburn long-term, he’s going about it the wrong way.

Don’t rule out Butch Davis as a candidate at Arkansas…

LSU names: Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, Jaguars Coach Jack Del Rio, Falcons Coach Bob Petrino…

Sources in Lincoln tell us LSU DC Bo Pelini has moved to the top of Tom Osbourne’s list. It seems Buffalo Coach Turner Gill did not overly impress in his interview. Barring a major change, Pelini looks to be in great shape…

We hear FSU Coach Bobby Bowden is very near an extension.

Sources tell us if Washington loses big to Hawaii Saturday, Coach Tyrone Willingham could very well lose his job.

Georgia Tech names: UConn’s Randy Edsall, Florida DC Charlie Strong, Ravens OC Rick Neuheisel, FSU OC Jimbo Fisher, Georgia Southern Coach Chris Hatcher, Auburn DC Will Muschamp….

If we get petrino, we better get an amazing DC or else that is a horrible hire

Ditto Spurrier somewhat. We've gotta maintain a defense.

Del Rio is my top choice.

Del Rio should be our #1 guy.

He's got everything that we want in a coach.

I heard from a friend that it was announced that Pelini was a no longer the leading canidate at Nebraska and that Osborne had said that his interview was so bad that he was barely even being considered now. Is there any truth to that

May be another 04 scenario for Ty, but UW should be able to close the deal with Mora where ND failed with Urban.

Didn't ESPN report ealier today (article) that Pelini did not exactly "wow" Osborne?

Sounds to me Rumor Mill got it backwards??? Or ESPN messed up? I conclude these sources are drinking too much gossip

I'm sorry but a dead monkey could recruit with Del Rio's resume. Somewhere between telling them about how he coached on one of the greatest NFL D's of all time and how he took his NFL team to the playoffs most kids will jump on board.

Learning the NCAA rules isn't going to be a problem.

If you think this is a bad hire then you are officially retarded.

Why do people think recruiting will be hard for him?

Here's what he could say to a recruit.

"Look, I've played in college and the NFL. I was a successful player at both levels, I know what it takes. I've taken a mediocre franchise in the NFL to a front runner for the AFC championship. If you want to play for a winning football school which has won 10 or more games three straight years, and if you want to play for a guy who knows what it takes to get to the NFL and be successful, come to LSU. We can get you there."

Honestly, how the frick do you turn that down?

I wouldn't put too much stock into what DTS has said. I've been tracking planes all day. I'm a loser.
