I'be never used geek squad, but they've always struck me as kind of a ripoff for some reason. 
I'll try to find a local shop first. Thanks.
It's sad, but when something like this breaks my first thought is to just buy a new one. Hopefully this is a cheap fix.

Just do it yourself. You can get a kit off amazon that includes the capacitor plus the soldering iron and other tools for$30. I fixed a vizio plasma that had the same problem, super easy if you have even minor technical skill.
